2012 Yikes! "Change"

WHERE THE HECK HAS EVERYONE BEEN?
Wow! It's been a while.... my last post was over 6 month ago. Where does the time go?

I don't know about you but every year I make "a" or "a few" new year resolutions and every year they get broken within the first week of the year. Mostly I make the same new year resolutions.... you know, eat healthy, lose weight.... yada, yada, yada!

Well anyway, even though I've been gone from blogging to "myself".... yes, "myself", because does anyone really read my blogs? Let me check..... ummm.... NOPE, don't see any followers here. Back to what I was saying, even though I haven't been blogging.... I have been reading lots of blogs and it seems in the blogging world people have chosen a special word for the new year. Just one word.... one little word that will help them keep a focus on themselves, family or whatever.

I decided to do this and the only word that kept coming to mind was .....
Change!
What a terrifying word!
It could mean so many things.... loosing someone or a job, leaving, being out of my comfort zone, becoming terminally ill or worse having a child that becomes ill. ugh!  I know,  my mind can go crazy like that, don't all Moms think that way?   Well I've prayed about the word and still the little word that wouldn't leave my mind was "CHANGE."

After thinking about it and praying about it..... the word "CHANGE" started to become a whole new word to me.

Change:

                               1. Transformation
                               2. Alter
                               3. Phase
                               4. Switch

Transformation: I signed up for Weight Watchers 5 weeks ago.... {totally stepping out of my comfort zone} I desperately want to educate myself and my family on making healthier food chooses. Not to mention lose the baby weight. "Yes my baby is going to be 9 years old in May."  Guess you got to start somewhere. Weight Watchers has been fantastic for me..... 5 weeks and down 11 lbs.  It's a slow transformation BUT one quote that keeps me going is, "Quick results lead to temporary results." I certainly don't want temporary.

Alter: I'm altering myself as well as my schedule, trying to find more time to exercises {I really hate the word exercises, how about mentally unwind or mentally organizing myself.  Something I think every Mother should do... even if its standing in the hot shower for 10 min. crying your eyes out...haha!  ummm.... I don't think I'm the only Mom that has done this?}   I'll be the first to admit it: I'm not the most organized person and need to work on some "at home" time management.  At work, I kick butt at time management. Soooo, I'm working on delegating some chores.... so far we ARE NOT making huge leaps. Baby steps are better than nothing. We are all a work in progress here.

Phase: I'll be entering a few new phases in my life this year. One being next month, in March I will be welcoming my 40th birthday. The other I will have a son entering high school in August....... still mentally preparing myself for this one.

Switch: We have been on a quest to change churches, not that we don't LOVE our little country church here in little ole Prairieville, where most of the members are 20 years plus older than Robby and I. I love elderly people, I love their wisdom and grace. Honestly, their is no intimation whats so ever. It is truly a sweet church. The negative and it is an important negative.... Our sweet little country church doesn't really have an inspiring youth group. The kids are getting nothing out of it and all the yelling & rushing in the morning to get them moving to get dressed, eat breakfast & brush their teeth.....ugh! Seems like a waste..... they are miserable and it makes me feel miserable and that is just not what Sundays should be about. We stepped out of comfort zone once again an attended Healing Place Church on a Wednesday night. One, Max enjoys going to the teen youth group, Epic and they have Sore a class for boys & girls 3rd - 5th grade for Lucy. They both have many classmates that attend and they both are pumped to go. Most importantly I believe that they are absorbing the message. I LOVE THAT!!! Now for Rob & I ..... we are defiantly stepping out. I don't really get into the whole raising your hands in the air and sing to the "Christian Rock" songs for ugh! 30 min. I love the traditional hems, they don't seem so depressing.... just my opinion. The pastor(s) is amazing and the message defiantly seems to feed the soul. It's about our children, if it was up to Rob and I we would be sitting in our little country church totally content.

“change”; preparing for what is ahead and discovering it.

My grilled zucchini Pizza
I couldn't find a big fat zucchini like Kalyns and
I used the mini pepperoni's
I love grilled veggies!
Just 3 minutes on each side or until zucchini is tender.
add pizza sauce and finely shredded, pizza blended cheese and mini pepperonis. Broil for just a minute or two, just until the cheese is melted.
Oh my goodness!
DELICIOUS!
No carb, 15 minute meal. What!

God Bless plumbers! Bless ‘em all

Good Lawd!!

I just changed out the old toilet seat/lid in the kids bathroom.....ugh!
That was the biggest task disaster!
Trying to get a seven year old, baked on, caked on, DISGUSTING, CRUSTED, URIEN infested, plastic nut off a urine, rusted out, metal bolt. "Boys"

Gag!
With a capital G!

I'm sure your getting the picture so I'll spare you an actual photo.

Meanwhile, mentally you can picture me sweating like a pig, wedged on my back between the tub and the toilet trying to dismember the foul plastic nut from the urine corroded bolt brilliantly {so I thought} with a heavy duty hot knife.

No tool I had was budging the plastic nut!

Ahhh! Genius! A hot knife will melt right through that plastic nut and I'll be able to rip it right off.
Like a charm it worked!

Now for the other side....
the side that has only 8 inches between the tub and the toilet.

On my back we go..... hot knife just inches from my nose. Melting away with determination at that nasty plastic nut.
At this point the knife is super hot and smoking.
Ahhh, the smell of burning plastic was definitely the smell of victory.

Installed right outside the bathroom..... yep a smoke detector.
And it works people!

Scared the bejesus out of me!
Suddenly finding myself not just wedged but really stuck. Unable to move my arms or sit up. And don't forget I have a heavy duty hot knife in my face. Rob is at work and kids are at school, yelling for help is pointless. Not sure what to do?
My phone is now ringing and I'm praying for divine supernatural intervention  to push the cute little green button on my phone and accept whomever is callingso I could scream,
"I'm Stuck! "HELP!"
If they could even hear me over the sound of the smoke detector.

I was starting to panic and claustrophobia was setting in. I was pretty sure at this point, this is how I'm going to die.... wedged between the tub & toilet.
Whew! Obviously I didn't die and lucky for you, I'm here to blog about it.
Finally with the grace of God, I freed myself and got the old icky toilet seat changed out.
God Bless you plumbers!
I know.... I KNOW! This is just a snippet of  what your job is like and I'm sure you have even grody(r) stories that I don't even want to imagine. :p
What a humbling job.
Bless'em All!

Back to School!

 BAM!
Just like that another summer ends and
a new school year begins.

First day of 8th grade & 3rd grade
Just between you and me, I think Max & Lucy were super excited to go back to school.
They could hardly sleep the night before and they both had their uniforms all laid out ready to go.
This is an exciting year for both.....
8th grade, Max is "big man" on campus and 3rd grade, Lucy begins her transition of switching classes. Wow, she has two teachers this year.
{right across the hall from each other} I'm pretty sure she will master this right away. :)
Both taking on big responsibilities. Here's to  wishing them lots of blessings and wonderful memories.

Have a great year, your Mom & Dad love you and are so proud of you two.

So lets not get tired of doing what is good.
At just the right time, we will reap a harvest of blessings if we don't give up.

Biblically Challenged & Chalk Talk

First I would like to say, " I'm very thankful and feel  blessed beyond words to have been raised a Christian."
We weren't always regular church goers. Although, I do remember attending Church/Sunday School quite often as a child with my Mother & Aunt Jackie.
We normally only blessed our food on special occasions, such as Thanksgiving or at Christmas dinner.  I didn't have a father who insisted we go to church every Sunday. In fact, I don't recall ever sitting in church with him at all. I'm no "holy roller"  by any means, but I'm a believer. A strong believer in prayer. I pray A LOT
Mostly for patients, lots and lots of patients, guidance, strength
and many prayers of thanks.
Never have I stopped believing in the awesome power of God.
I admit, many times straying from the word, ether because I was to busy "sowing my oats" or just the mere frustration of trying to understand who said what or who did what in the Bible.
Sometimes reading the Bible can be like reading Chinese.
I have come to realize that I'm what you would call
"Biblically Challenged."
Attending church on Sundays is my classroom.
I learn so much more by hearing someone speak the word, seeing the power point with explanations or examples than trying to read on my own.
You may have realized organized religion is not your thing or that your like me and get frustrated trying to comprehend what you are reading in the Bible.
I love reading devotional books or spiritual books that are....if you will, written in "Lamens Terms." Also if you know of any other books you may have enjoyed, please send your suggestions my way.

Two books I did get to read this summer and both are page turners and highly recommend.

I also read many blogs that are inspirational and help "feed my spiritual growth."
I wanted to share with you one particular blog.
KC at Sanctified Pearl
She inspired me to write a memory verse on the chalk board in my kitchen. I call it "Chalk Talk" She {KC} calls it "Memory Verse Monday." I have been sharing the verses each week with my family at home and my Facebook friends.

You don't need a large chalk board in your kitchen. You can just write it on paper and stick it to the refrigerator or bathroom mirror. Somewhere your family will likely read it everyday.
Or....If your not "Biblically Challenged" like me, you can share your own favorite verses with your friends and family.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

I've been meaning to post my "chalk talk" or "memory verse" pictures on my blog so that they are in my archives. Maybe my children will go back and read these and become inspired to share with their friends and/or families one day.

Week One:

Week Two:

Week Three:

I hope you are inspired too with the memory verses. I would love to read positive comments and it would mean so much to me for you to sign up to follow my blog. If you don't already have a blog, I encourage you to began writing one.
It is lots of fun and very gratifying.

Have a blessed day!

P.S. Good bye Summer Break 2011 and HELLO 8th grade & 3rd grade. I must say, "bitter sweet."
I can't say good bye to the summer heat, just the break... sadly we have many more summer scorchers ahead.
Come on sweater weather! Oh how I miss you!

Fourteen!

I'm so thankful to be celebrating fourteen years of marriage today!
We were married on August 2nd 1997 on a cool brisk evening.
What in world was I thinking to plan a wedding in South Louisiana in Hot SCORCHING August? Believe it or not, God so blessed us with the most divine weather, a beautiful setting and the best family and friends one could ask for.
I'm thankful were we've been, were we've come and were God will take us.

Here's to fourteen blessed years!
